Celebrating 100 Years of Garden Hills: A Project Straight From the Heart

Turning Stories Into a Visual Legacy

Last November marked an important moment for my neighborhood. Garden Hills celebrated its 100-year anniversary here in Buckhead, Atlanta. To honor this milestone, the neighborhood came together around a meaningful idea. We decided to create a coffee table book celebrating a century of stories.

I felt deeply honored when I was asked to photograph it.

A Century of History in Garden Hills, Buckhead

Two incredible women from Garden Hills wrote the book. At the same time, I documented the neighborhood through my camera. Together, we worked toward one clear goal. We wanted the book ready by the exact anniversary date.

Because of that deadline, the project moved quickly. Even so, every moment felt intentional and rewarding.

Photographing Garden Hills Then and Now

Throughout the book, you’ll find photographs of historic homes, meaningful locations, neighborhood signs, and small details. Some images support specific stories. Others sit beside photos taken nearly 100 years ago.

As a result, the past and present speak to each other. While photographing, I began to notice things I had never seen before. Familiar streets suddenly felt new. History revealed itself quietly and beautifully.

A Project Fueled by Love

This project came straight from the heart. I donated my time and talent without hesitation. In return, I gained something far greater.

Along the way, I met generous and inspiring people. I listened to incredible stories. I also stepped into unique backyards and homes I would never have seen otherwise. Because of that, my connection to Garden Hills grew deeper with every shoot.

Celebrating 100 Years Together

At the same time, the neighborhood hosted a gala to celebrate Garden Hills’ 100-year milestone. The evening felt joyful and full of connection. I met even more neighbors and heard even more stories.

Now, I often recognize familiar faces on walks or at local events. That sense of belonging means everything.

Why This Project Will Always Matter to Me

This experience reminded me why I love photography. It’s not only about creating beautiful images. It’s about preserving stories, honoring history, and strengthening community.

I feel grateful beyond words. Contributing to this milestone was a true privilege. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Here’s to 100 years of Garden Hills Buckhead Atlanta — and to the stories still waiting to be told.

Preserving Stories Through Photography

This project reflects how I approach photography. I focus on real stories and meaningful connections. If you’re looking for thoughtful, story-driven photography, I’d love to connect.

People often ask me what are the differences between headshots and branding pictures. So let’s dedicate a full blog to it!

Headshots and branding photo sessions are very different, in terms of preparation, content, duration and price! They have one common thing tough. Headshots are included in a personal branding session but your personal brand session will include so much more than that.

You are going to get a lot lot of information here under but don’t worry, I have resources to help you through both your headshots and branding journeys!

HEADSHOTS PICTURES

I usually deliver 3 to 5 high resolution edited images after a headshots session. The pictures will mostly be taken from the waist up. You can select two outfits, combine standing and sitting poses, in one location. I will dedicate another blog to the different headshot backgrounds options!

BRANDING OR PERSONAL BRANDING PICTURES ARE VERY DIFFERENT

A personal branding session is 100% customized to your needs. Each element, such as the outfits you will wear, the locations we will select and your brand colors, will be carefully studied. They will help showcase the uniqueness of your brand and personality.

It will include headshots, your work environment, your business vibe, some lifestyle shots, pictures showing your personality, your creative process, details… and so MUCH more!

As your session is unique, planning is crucial. It helps me understand what you need, your business, your brand, your goals and the messages you want to share. I will also get a better view on how you will use the images, what makes you unique, who your ideal client is.

On the session day, my goal is to understand your brand so well that I can articulate everything as if it was my own.

Personal Brand session typically last half a day or a full day and include different outfits and locations.

It also includes a commercial right to the images. It means that you can use all the high and web resolution edited images for any business communication without restriction.
